So I made a political post this morning on FB that got all the folks up in arms. It was my mistake I did not word my post correctly and should have thought longer before I did so and if my actions make your life difficult because people know we are connected in some way I apologize, my point was misrepresented in the words that I chose. Please except this apology. (it was also taken down quickly, but we know that means nothing these days.)
If you really want to know I do not agree with anyone running for president of the United States (although I feel obligated to vote so more personal research will be completed before doing so.) The only real thing that fuels these elections are money and power. If you think that we are making difference by stating our opinions on FB then you are mistaken. The real catalyst is that “like” button that is tracked for advertising and data. (this could be discussed for hours but here is not the place nor do I currently have the time.)
If you want to make a difference in your community go to the problem. Yelling on social media only fuels the machine. Think about it. Something goes viral millions jump on and all of a sudden your stream is filled with Ads. You don’t even notice. But clicking, liking, or sharing those posts for good or ill is only helping them (and I should have known better as well, see above apology.)
By “go to the problem” I mean visit those in need, if you have money to donate great but it’s the hard labor that makes a difference. If you support women’s rights go give your time to a women’s and children’s shelter, help them help them selves. Do something, don’t stand around on your phone yelling in all CAPS. If you believe Cops are bad join the system and lead by example. There are many options to help your community, go work at an animal shelter, foster dogs, literally feed the homeless, volunteer at a substance abuse center, go to Frankfurt and lobby for something you believe in. GO TO THE PROBLEM and be positive.
If these are things that you do great! Continue!
And if you are looking for something to yell at me about here is a little bit of fuel you can use. Some people know, many do not, I have a chronic autoimmune disease called Type 1 Diabetes (google it). And when it comes down to advocating on a government level there is one person that fights for millions of dollars for research and better management and the possible future cure of this disease and it’s Mitch McConnell. That’s right Mitch the Senate Majority Leader, the guy that I have wanted out of office for years, because of my political views. I will be joining a team in the near future to go to Frankfurt and hopefully DC and setting aside my political beliefs because this man has helped millions of children and adults all over the US live with this disease a little better every year.
If you have made it this far great and thanks. And please feel free to slay me on Facebook because I’m going to support Mitch in his efforts regardless of my political views. Can you do that or is someone else’s opinion more important than trying to make a difference for those that are suffering?
